Quick update

I know i haven't blogged as much as I've said, but whatever, its been busy.  Wedding planning is well underway though.  Go visit http://www.richieandleah.com to get the info.  I know its customary to have my New Years Resolutions on here, and I will put them up, but probably not till next month.  Have lots of random crap to do this month and feeling a bit down because of the weather or something.  Anyhow, happy new year all and I'll make proper blog posting later.

Ok we’re live!

I’ve officially moved off Subtext and onto WordPress.  The Gallery has been completed redone, hope everyone likes it.  Now that I’m done with that, we can finally talk about Halloween and how exhausting partying all week is ;)

Other than that, Leah and I are engaged now for those not in the know.  But frankly, if you didn’t know by now, you probably aren’t reading my blog anyhow heh… Hmm lots of Halloween picture are up from this weekend so check them out.  Gotta go and play Rockband 3 now woot!

After a long hiatus, the blog returns.  Nothing much is going for now, but stay tuned for the what’s new!

All the new things …

Ok, see the problem is Facebook is around now, and whenever I feel the need to do babble or bitch about something; Facebook updates is the way to go.  Anyhow, let's talk about whats going on.  Again, we'll go with a bullet point format cause it requires less english, which as we all know, I'm really bad at ;)

• Got a new job at Qualys… I’ll be the Director of Vulnerability Research which lets me do all the cool things I want and more!  Really hyped to see what kind of work is going to come out of my group
• Found a new girlfriend.  And though I use the word girlfriend, I’m pretty sure she’s the one.  I just hope my spidey senses aren’t failing me in my old age.
• Moving.  ARGH!?!?  This goes right with point one above.  Qualys is located in San Francisco (ok, its not in SF, its like 25 miles south of it) … so I have to move.  This pains me beyond belief cause I won’t be able to live the way I’m accustomed to.  Though, for those that know me, you might think that’s not really a bad thing.

So those are the big 3 things.  I’m making a new quarter resolution of blogging in here more cause frankly, all my random thoughts in Facebook updates won’t follow me around forever like this silly little thing that I’ve been doing long before the word “blog” ever existed.  Peace.

Not much going on

Just figured I’d drop a new post on here.  New flooring is almost complete so I can almost move back into my place which is going to be AWESOME.  Already have a bunch of new things I need to go buy.  Anyhow, check out the pics of the new floor, as well as from my parents 36th that I mentioned previously.

let’s talk about life…

I haven’t written a useful post for too long.  The main reason why is because Lindsey would get pissed off I was airing our business to everyone, and well that’s not a problem anymore cause the first talking point today is Lindsey and I broke up about 2 months ago now… well officially anyhow.  We have been on the rocks for the last 3 months before that, but yeah.  I actually still have a LOT I want to say about the issue, but I am not going to do that out of respect.  That’s it.  Else everyone would be getting an earful.

What else is going on… I redid my Gallery so a lot of my previous posts won’t link correctly anymore.  The way it was organized previously made sense when there weren’t a lot of pictures in there, but now, there is almost 10 years of photos in there.  It’s all organized by date now so peruse to your hearts delight.

And now, to get to the deep and meaningful part of my blog.  The other reason I decided to update my blog today was caused I just upgraded to Subtext 2.1 (which is awesome btw) and was going through old blogs.  Blogs about Becca, Karyn, Lindsey, random girls in between;  And I came to the conclusion none of my plans ever work out.  It’s so random.  The things I complain about today; about being too old to go out, about wanting to meet new friends, about things I want and need to do, are all the fucking same as they were 4, 5, 6 years ago… Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, but one thing is for sure.  It is messed up!

Now, on that note, let me find a couple of pictures to insert in here and I’ll call this a post.  And again, I am going to promise myself again that I will make a more concerted effort to blog.

it has been a very, very long time

there are absolutely too many things to write about over the last 3 months.  quite honestly, november and december were pure utter hell.  january is a blur, and now into february, as the clouds start disappearing and the sun slowly comes back out, things will be better.  so with that, let me bulletpoint a bunch of developments/thoughts in my life.

• issues with the g/f.  some self inflicted, some not.  i could write about 20 pages of things that transpired here, but honestly there’s not point.  it is what it is right now.
• money.  money is always a pain.  recession sucks, housing market sucks, stock market sucks.  my parents live up here which is awesome though.  my moms been great at helping me organize my property management crap and other financial ickyness.
• some talentless ass monkey broke into (ok the door was unlocked) and jacked all my shit so i have to replace it all.  most importantly, they stole my pool cue which is just not cool.  that did however lead to me buying a new cue which i’m very happy with.
• resolutions.  you know this is the first year in, well the life of this blog i think that i didn’t post resolutions on the 1st.  frankly bullet point 1 caused a lot of shit in my life and i refrained, but with that, i will go through my short list now.
  • buy new camera and take more pictures!  seriously need to do that more.
  • buy video camera.  i want to video blog.  no, not cause i have something important to say, but i want to have some video of me for posterity.
  • buy new sunglasses because of said stolen shit from car
  • work out.  yes, actually go to the gym.  this one fails ever year but i feel the need to keep including it
  • poker.  goal is to bankroll myself into the WSOP.  that said, its already feb and i haven’t made a trip to vegas yet.  very behind schedule, but still something to shoot for.
  • remodel house.  there are a bunch of things i want to do, but too bad point 2 above makes that very very difficult.
• mortgages.  i didn’t lump this with money above cause i think its absolutely stupid that i’m never late with my payments, and i make plenty of money, yet i can’t refi any of my places because of all the idiots that screwed up the housing market by buying crap they can’t afford, on loans they didn’t understand.  i love how people like me that knew what they were doing, and played by the books get fucked while the rest of the world gets a bailout.
• jess moved out here from rhode island.  that’s probably one of the best things that’s happen lately.
• things that have been fun in the last 3 months (in no particular order):
  • 2 vegas trips! … given, there was more drama ensued than one cares to remember, it was still fun.
  • leah and callies bday shindig at teatro – cool show
  • seeing lenka with lindz, angela, and ryan at the triple door (best venue ever!)
  • nye was a blast.  pics are up somewhere i think.
  • deck the hall ball.  death cab + the killers = ftw!  plus everyone drank a bottle of vodka in the car on an empty stomach.  too funny.
  • pink party.  cause i wore pink
  • bacon party. cause i made stuff to eat heh
  • fire festival. ok this wasn’t all that exciting, but i got pictures of it so linking it ;)
• oh.. and whats up with 3D?  superbowl 3d ads?  chuck in 3d?  my bloody valentine in 3d?  pffft!

oh well that covers my ranting.  someone drop me some email or something.  or i guess the thing to do now is just to find me in facebook cause facebook can replace actual human interaction.  peace.

So I learned 3 things during Halloween

The first thing I learned is that I am too old to be going to raves where the main DJ act comes on @ 2am!  By 2:45 I was beat and had to bounce the hell outta dodge, but still, it was an awesome night.

Which then leads me to the second thing I learned, which is, he who has the camera never gets into the pictures!  Which is ok with me for the most part, but one of these days when I’m going through all the pictures, I’m going to be like, wtf was I during all of this :)

And lastly, I learned that going to events at the freaking Wamu Theater is a waste of time.  Nine bucks for a single shot of vodka, with 25 min lines for drinks.  If I ever go back to one of these events, I will have a bottle in my car with some redbull mixers, and we will be walking outside for drinks! Either way, it was a lot of fun.

But it might be a while before I go back and do something like that cause man I was thrashed for the next 24 hours, and I hate that feeling!    Anyhow, big shout out to all my peeps that went out for the party.  Love all you guys, and hopefully we’ll all get together again soon, in a less frenzied setting!

Time sure does fly

And I’m not about to make some big boring post today.  Just wanted to say that turning 33 came and went.  Parents are getting settled in nicely.  After a long and hard working month of October I will definitely want to take it easy this month.  Still, work is so busy.  So much to do, so little time.  I do plan on taking a week of in November to blow of some steam which will be nice.

Other than that, I’ve decided that I am going to start New Years Resolutions early this year.  Figure I will add them in here as they come to mind.  Today’s big thought is photography.  I need to start shooting at least once every 2 weeks.  Doesn’t matter what, where or who;  All that it matter is that I go somewhere for a few hours and shoot.  That will help me develop more of a workflow at home for all the damn pictures I have scattered everywhere.  And also, I mean really shoot.  Little point-and-shoot doesn’t count (though I’m hoping for a bunch of those for Halloween).  So yes, will try and get a head start and start this weekend.

Which reminds me, this weekend is … Freak Night! … PvD, Moby, Crystal Meth… I mean come on!  That’s a hell of a venue.  Though it is at the Wamu theater again, and if it’s like anything like the previous USC venue we went to, I will NEVER go to one again.  I mean seriously here’s a quick rundown of what was bad:

• All ages show
• It took over an hour for Lindsey to get a drink
• Tickets are over 50 bucks for GA… over 100 for VIP
• The lighting was HORRIBLE… its a rave people.  Make it look like one

• Pricing… You know people are going to be thirsty… charging 4 bucks for a bottle of water and not giving them the cap so they can refill at the fountain is dumb
• There was a line to go outside to smoke.  SERIOUSLY!
• After party was a joke.  Yeah this one isn’t their fault, but still… Gotta lay blame somewhere when they charge you 20 bucks to go to an after party that lasts 3 hours.

Ok, That about covers this post.  Either way, we’re already committed to going so I hope it’s fun.  In the mean time… bleah… peace.
